I was just browsing the Fox Box - great site, by the way - and I thought
you might like to hear about the Langsett Fox Dance. This takes place
every year at a village in Yorkshire, England. Langsett has a few houses,
a lot of sheep, a reservoir that serves the Sheffield area, and a pub
called the Waggon and Horses. The Fox Dance takes place on the night of
the first full moon in October (you just missed it - sorry!) and
resembles the other English traditional (ie Morris, Molly, or Border)
dances; except that the dancers wear fox masks, dance at night, and carry
fire torches instead of wussy handkerchiefs. The members of the team stay
anonymous, or at least try to. And I'm not about to change that.
